Geography
This region of lacustrine moraine consists of all of the lakes situated within the bounds of the region’s Andes Mountain Chain such as Todos Los Santos Lake, Lake Chapo Tagua Tagua, Lake Azul, Las Rocas Lake and Lake Vidal Gormáz among other minor bodies of water. All of these bodies of water are linked by numerous westerly flowing rivers and outlets (IGM, 1995.)

The Fault line evidenced in the summit that divides the Manso and Barrancas Rivers are a result of previously associated tectonic activity within these catchment areas and is discernable through the rivers’ layout.

Among the numerous minor mountain chains and ranges are the Cordillera de Las Gualas- running NW-SW toward the lower course of the Puelo River and the NS running Cordon Nevado which counts the 2,226 meter Cerro de La Torre among its summits. While this summit is also the highest among the
ranges, the minor mountain chains rarely rise above the 1,800 meter mark due to the potent and constant forces of erosion by rivers as well as glaciers. The thermal waters of Sotomó found on the western banks of the Reloncaví Estuary and other zones around the Puelo valley are replete with secondary manifestations of volcanic activity.
