Hidrography
The dominant coastal feature of the area is the Reloncaví Estuary whose sources of numerous rivers and streams are, in the majority of cases, formed by bodies of water from the lakes and lagoons of the pre-cordillera (the western bank of the estuary) as well as the Andes Cordillera (eastern back of the estuary.)

The county’s principle basin associated with the 188 km Puelo River, originates from Lake Puelo (Argentina.) The sum of the Arroyo Icefield, Traidor, Manso and Puelo Chico rivers among other lesser streams are stronger contributors to the volume closer to the Reloncaví Estuary.

The more significant Lakes in terms of surface area are: Vidal Gormaz, Tagua Tagua, Totoral, Blanco, Verde, Azul, Las Rocas, Inferior, Laguna Brava, El Cabro, Chaparano, Raquelita y Los Patos.
The presence of thermal waters throughout the county is also noteworthy. The first among three sources of thermal waters is found close to the town of Sotomó on the north-west bank of the estuary. Around the town of Puelo the bank of the Sin Nombre Lagoon is home to the second source. The last source, close to the Cochamó River, was uncovered with the construction of Chile’s Carretera Austral and is found on the north-east bank of estuary.
